The Korean Food Smackdown

Hot Stone bibimbap
The tetris of food bowls

It’s like fate, as I was talking to Newdie Mag contributor Megan Kojima  while she is on  vacation to South Korea I walked past Mokja Korean Restaurant. Suddenly it hit me: I should challenge that ****** **** (amazing lady) to find a better version of the same dish. Korean food in Korea vs. Korean food in New York. Come at me bro (Sis?). Gettin’ Spicy 2: Revenge of the spice | Poboys

New Orleans is home to the worlds oldest continuously operating streetcar line (and after a night out on Bourbon Street I feel like the worlds oldest continuous partier). The streetcars have been rolling down St. Charles Avenue since 1835. What does this have to do with a delicious sandwich served on a baguette like french bread?

A lot actually.

Gettin’ Spicy with Boiled Crawfish

Pinch it. Peel it. Eat it. Don’t forget to suck the head!

Bagels and Breakfast Talk

(Sophia Petrillo Style) Picture it: Krakow, 1610. This is the earliest mention of the round, doughy delicacy known as the bagel. Krakow, Poland community guidelines indicated that bagels were a suitable gift for women who had just given birth. I guess a food that is high in carbs but not fiber or protein is good for new moms?

Behind the Scenes of Cooking with Comedians by Newdie Mag

They're definitely cazy
Michael Salgarolo and JR Bruno pitch their new sitcom “Crazy Broke Half Asians”

How many New York gays does it take to figure out a pepper grind(e)r? You’d be surprised.

Try a whole room-full, camped out on couches, sleeping on sofas in the basement of a Hells Kitchen condo. Read: things I didn’t expect to see when Joshua Shoopman invited me over to watch the filming of his forthcoming comedy cooking show, Cooking with Comedians.

I never want to eat again

As I sit here with food poisoning (I won’t say from where but it rhymes with BackConFolds) I am contemplating never eating again. Seems like a great option even though I love food. I feel awful, but I am sure eyeing those M&M’s in my hotel mini bar. They probably cost about $87 though. Almost worth it.

Gumbo: The Taste War

Gumbo is the “official cuisine” of Louisiana and down here people take it seriously. Really seriously. There are heated debates about who has the best gumbo and especially who has the worst. Disney was once forced to take down a recipe for “Tiana’s Healthy Gumbo,” which included kale and quinoa after a heated backlash. It didn’t even have a roux (see below)! We will include a few of the memes it spawned at the end of this article.
